Oral and Written Testimony Submitted last week and today to Senator Baker and others.

Dear Senator Baker:

On behalf of the Hawaii Academy of Physician Assistants (HAPA) and the more than 300 physician assistants (PAs) providing care to Hawaii’s residents, we would like to express our support for HB 2578, relating to PA license renewal in Hawaii.

Through meaningful collaboration and communication H.B. 2578 has also gained the support of the Hawaii Board of Medical Examiners (BOME), Hawaii Medical Association (HMA), and the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA), as per their written and oral submissions.

HAPA also supports the BOME’s and AAPA’s written suggestion that the bill be amended to require 40 credits of continuing education, consistent with the requirements for physicians in State of Hawaii.

We appreciate you scheduling and hearing this H.B. and appreciate your continued support and all that you do for our State and the patients we care for.

Respectfully,

Rocco Laudadio,  DHSc., PA-C
President, Hawaii Academy of PAs
